May sees the beginning of National Smile Month! Now over 40 years old, this annual event looks to promote three key messages when it comes to your oral health.
· Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste
· Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
· Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend
CEO of the Oral Health Foundation, Dr Nigel Carter OBE said of National Smile Month “Our ultimate goal is to improve the oral health of every person in the UK and enable them to smile with confidence. In 2016, the campaign reached unprecedented levels as we celebrated our 40th birthday. Much of the credit for the huge improvement we have seen in oral health in the UK over the last 40 years is down to hard working dental and health professionals who go out into their local communities to spread the word about the importance of good oral health and a good oral hygiene routine.”
We want your smile to last you a lifetime so regular visit to the practice dentists and hygiene team will go a long way to making that happen. However, what you do to care for your smile at home is equally as important so be aware of how often you are consuming sugar through the day and don’t forget to brush too!
